Background
Thomas Hockenberry, Ph.D, is a "scholic" from the 20th century, resurrected by the god-like technology of the post humans posing as Greek gods. His duties are to report on the important events of the Trojan War, with emphasis paid to divergences from the original version (The Iliad) as told by Homer.
Notes
Thomas Hockenberry was called "Hockenberry, son of Duane" by the Greeks. Duane Hockenberry was a classmate of Dan Simmons at Wabash College; he was murdered in 1971.
